So it seems the “3 nights with Akon” that Saint Lounge in Cape Town advertised for is not happening.
The upmarket champagne lounge and bar released a statement after being called out on social media for “scamming” their patrons.
This due to the establishment calling for a R1 million minimum spend for a table to see the Senegalese-American artist perform from 03 – 05 January.
But when Akon was a no-show on Tuesday night, Saint Lounge made headlines with several patrons who paid the R1000 entry fee calling their bluff.
In a statement, the establishment said that they had been approached by Akon’s representatives to book the artist at the popular celebrity hotspot.
After numerous meetings Saint Lounge then paid the agreed upon fee to book Akon but due to some mishap between his representatives, the Smack That hitmaker was a no-show.
“We are still trying to ascertain the facts thereof between the representatives of the artist and his management which has caused Akon to not honour the booking.
The situation last night was beyond Saint Champagne Bar & Lounge’s control.
We can also confirm that Akon will no longer be appearing at Saint on any other upcoming night (Wednesday, 04 & Thursday, 05 January), as previously advertised due to the mishap explained above.
We are a reputable brand that has always delivered. You, our loyal customers deserve the best and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Needless to say, the establishment’s social media accounts were being dragged through the mud after this latest stunt.
“Will you be posting his picture everyday until he pays back what he owes?”
“Let’s just all be honest, Akon was never booked. SEND US PROOF OF PAYMENTS.”
“Are you giving refunds? You guys are full of drama.”
“When there are always problems in your relationships, consider that you might be the problem 💁🏻♂️”
“🤣🤣🤣 saints is managed by clowns 🤡”
“Not Saint making the pivot from a nightclub to a comedy club 😢😂”
