South African businesswoman and reality TV star, Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mpisane, made a rare and stylish appearance at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) finals, held at the SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria on Saturday, 14 June.
Dressed in a designer Gucci cap, an over-the-top mink coat, and denim pantaboots, MaMkhize enjoyed the game solo while seated courtside in the coveted front-row seats.
“Grateful to witness African excellence in action. Thank you @thebal we’re only getting started,” she wrote on Instagram.
MaMkhize also shared a recap video featuring moments with fellow celebrities, including DJ Sbu and former model and club host Babalwa Mneno.
“This is what freedom looks like,” MaMkhize wrote. “Women showing up in spaces they were never expected to be. We are the continuation of the fight.”
This marks her most notable public appearance since keeping a low profile amid legal and financial troubles stemming from an outstanding R40 million tax debt owed to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
In November 2024, SARS raided and seized multiple properties and luxury vehicles belonging to MaMkhize in Durban and Johannesburg, reportedly worth over R100 million.
By early 2025, her football club Royal AM was placed under curatorship, auctioned off, and ultimately expelled from the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
In March, MaMkhize broke her silence with a reflective post on social media:
“My side of the story doesn’t matter anymore,” she wrote. “Life happened, it hurt, I healed. But most importantly, I learned who deserves a seat at my table and who will never sit again.”
