South African actress Neo Ramitshana recently took a nostalgic stroll down memory lane, sharing a throwback from her time on Skeem Saam.
Best known for her role as Botshelo, Neo opened up about the behind-the-scenes emotions that went into filming one of the show’s standout scenes.
“If there’s one thing I miss… it’s being her,” she wrote, referring to her on-screen character.
In a rare moment of vulnerability, she admitted to second-guessing her performance on the day of filming.
“Especially in those early days, I had so much self-doubt. I honestly didn’t think I could act. My nerves were LOUD.”
She described working alongside the iconic Koko Mantsha, played by veteran actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi, as one of the most surreal moments of her career.
“A small village girl from Lotlhakane, now in the same room, running lines with a living legend. It was surreal… With Koko? Yoh… nerves!”
Despite her anxiety, Neo now views the moment with pride. “Watching this now? Shem… I was a natural,” she said with a smile.
In true Neo fashion, the post included a humorous anecdote about a crew member who caught her stretching before the scene and jokingly asked, “You don’t play sports, neh?” suggesting her technique gave her away.
Neo laughed it off but admitted she had initially been concerned it would affect the scene’s authenticity.
“I remember thinking I should’ve gone to a basketball court or at least watched a few players to prep better,” she said. “Mare… it all worked out. It always does.”
