Skeem Saam has warned fans of fake news that’s circulating regarding the passing of actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi.
This after the publication Sharpsharpit.Africa reported that the legendary South African actress has died, sending fans of of the local drama series into momentary shock at the news.
However, the Skeem Saam immediately asked the publication to remove the article as it’s not true.
Mokgokoloshi, who plays the character, Koko Mantsa, is alive and well.
Although the actress, who is lovingly referred to by South African audiences as the “National Gogo”, is no longer with the soapie, Skeem Saam said it was unfortunate that the publication put up the fake news just to get clout.
Lydia Mokgokoloshi starred in the SABC 1 soapie since inception in 2011, taking a break from her role in 2020.
This isn’t the first time that fake news of the actress’ passing did the rounds, with another story announcing Mokgokoloshi being published in 2021.
The actress who is 83-years old is said to be alive and well.
