Phiwe Maphanga has reportedly retaliated to Moneoa’s allegations of abuse by filing for a protection order, and opening charges of intimidation, extortion and defamation of character.
This after the Afrosoul singer opened up about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-boyfriend during their relationship. Moneoa also accused Phiwe, who’s married to Gauteng ANC deputy provincial secretary Tasneem Motara of scamming her off over R500 000.
According to a City Press report, Moneao Moshesh-Sowazi spent two hours at a police station last Thursday, 25 August, regarding the claims she made against Phiwe.
The businessman has reportedly obtained an interim protection order against Moneoa after he claims he’s received death threats due to her public accusations.
Phiwe further claims that his family’s lives have also been put in danger due to the intimidation they’ve received as a result.
“This has resulted in my life being in physical danger. I have received threats [on] digital platforms [from Moshesh-Sowazi’s supporters] claiming that they will find me and my family. I would therefore request that I be given a protection order on an urgent basis on the premise that I am getting death threats from social media owing to her recent posts.”

In response to Moneoa’s allegations, Phiwe claims that he was the subject of physical abuse and emotional blackmail during their relationship which only lasted one year.
He further states that Moneoa threatened to use her fame and social status to cause him physical and reputational harm, and he accuses her of sending him threats recently.
“Moneoa is an ex-girlfriend whom I met in 2017. Our relationship was terminated in 2018. We were together affectionately for a period of 1-year. During the course of our relationship, I was the subject of physical abuse and emotional blackmail.
As a newlywed and a man with a newborn baby, I feel extremely vulnerable as I am uncertain of the extent to which the threats could be acted on.
I have been giving her money throughout the course of our breakup, as she would claim that if I don’t give her money, she would ensure I am in harm’s way.”
As per the publication Moneoa is challenging the protection order, and opened a case of intimidation against the police officers who questioned her.
Moneoa has also opened a case of theft by false pretences against Phiwe who she says took a vehicle belonging to her five years ago, which hasn’t been returned.
