Afrosoul singer, Moneoa has spoken up about her past relationship with Phiwe Maphanga, accusing him of abuse and scamming her off over R500 000.
Taking to Instagram for a live, the Ziph’ Inkomo singer said she endured Phiwe’s abuse, lies and gaslighting for 5-years but has finally chosen to speak out.
The singer who was recently on 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka, opened up about how Phiwe ruined her life, racking up debt amounting to over R500 000.
Phiwe Maphanga is currently married to Gauteng ANC deputy provincial secretary Tasneem Motara. While he maintains a picture-perfect life with his wife, Moneoa says he continues to inconvenience her life because he feels invincible over her due to her silence.
Tearing up during her live, Moneoa shared incidents where Phiwe had allegedly beaten her until she’d blacked out.
“After a heated back and forth toxic argument, he had struck me so hard across the face that I was on the floor. One minute I was standing the next minute he had pounced on me from across the room, hitting me across my face. This went on, I remember I had blacked out from the pain, I was seeing stars.
The next thing his knees are on my shoulders and I couldn’t move and he threatens that he’s going to kill me. He kept asking me why I’m making him do this?”

The singer says that after he had beaten her, Phiwe felt guilty because her face was so badly bruised that he bought her a Range Rover.
“He told me the car would be in my name and he would pay it off and I believed him, but he never paid it off. The bank was debiting the instalments from my account because the Range Rover was in my name. I ended up getting evicted because I couldn’t afford to pay for my apartment.”
Moneoa alleges that Phiwe manipulated and controlled her to the point where she was forced to leave the record label she was with (Gallo) and join his company, Dynasty.
As a result she no longer has access to her music, cannot perform any song from my album Ziph’ Inkomo, because Phiwe made sure that he benefitted from her career.
She says he used the fact that she prioritised a private life to his advantage, and knew she would remain silent all these years.
In addition to the abuse and scamming accusations, Moneoa said that Phiwe was cheating on her with a 67-year old Chinese woman who he claimed was his business partner.
Moneoa says she has pictures to prove that Phiwe had abused her and would be sharing these to her social media.
