Makhadzi’s gravity-defying entrance at the Royal Heritage Festival on Saturday, 16 September received mixed reviews, particularly after the Venda singer got stuck whilst suspended in the air.
The singer who always gives her all during her performances, chose to zipline onto the stage, “flying” over screaming fans who were at first in awe at the spectacular entrance.
Makhadzi said prior to the event that she was confident she would give festival goers exactly what they want, saying her performance would not just be her singing.
Dressed in a yellow flowing gown, some thought Makhadzi was trying to symbolize a bird as she made her way to the stage.
However, the 27-year old’s acrobatics hit a snag when the cable that she was suspended from got caught on the stage lighting.
Makhadzi was stuck and dangling for a few minutes before the cable was released, and the singer safely descended to the stage.
Despite this little hiccup, the singer went on to give a charged-up performance to loud cheers from the crowd.
Thousands of people attended the event, which was Phalaphala FM’s 9th festival.
