Gomora actress Nandipha Khubone, known to millions of viewers as Sibongile, opens up about a day at the office or in her case, on set that made her aware of her mental health in situations she hasn’t dealt with head-on.
“During my days as a film student I was told about how hard it is to remove yourself from the character’s body when you fully immerse yourself and I haven’t experienced it until this day,” she adds.
“Removing myself from Sibongile’s body was harder than it usually was for me because of how much I would like to shield her from. a world that doesn’t serve her.”
She says she had a few moments where she broke down in her green room “due to the work she prepared.”
Nonetheless, she is grateful for her experience as it shifted something in her that “brought her closer to herself.”
Nandipha encourages people to “feel what they are feeling in the moment as it washes away many wounds buried within us.”
