Legendary Hollywood actor Val Kilmer has died at the age of 65.
According to reports, Kilmer’s daughter, Mercedes, told the media that he died of pneumonia in Los Angeles on Tuesday, 1 April 2025.
Mercedes revealed that Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but recovered at a later stage.
Kilmer had to undergo tracheotomy surgery which altered his voice and forced him to take a step back from his acting career.
He made his comeback in a cameo role as Iceman in the 2022 movie Top Gun: Maverick, which was the sequel to his famed 1986 hit blockbuster Top Gun.
Kilmer was born in California and was the youngest person to be accepted at Julliard School’s drama department when he was just 21 years old.
He is famed for his roles in Top Gun, Batman Forever and The Doors to name a few.
He also starred alongside Michael Douglas and South African actor John Kani in the Stephen Hopkins directed adventure film The Ghost and the Darkness.
