South African actor Matli Mohapeloa has taken to social media to honour his mother, a woman he calls his rock, on her 70th birthday.
The Broken Vows and The Queen star shared a touching message to mark his mother’s.
“Happy 70th birthday mommy. I love, respect and appreciate you so much,” Mohapeloa began. “You have loved me unconditionally all of my life and you continue to do so.”
In his message, Mohapeloa shared how his mother’s recent illness left him sleepless and anxious – nights spent praying, hoping, and trusting that she would recover.
“When you fell sick I couldn’t sleep at night. I’d be up praying for you to get better — and Jesus came through like He always does.”
Quoting Tupac Shakur’s Dear Mama, he added:
“Even though I act crazy, I gotta thank the Lord that you made me. There are no words that can express how I feel, but my plan is to show you that I understand.”
In his post, Mohapelo acknowledged a mother’s sacrifice, support, and spiritual strength.
“I always say to my friends that my mom is a soldier mom, because she would never abandon me injured on the battlefield.”
Promising to “spoil her rotten,” the actor closed his message with a line that spoke volumes:
“I couldn’t have asked God for a better mother… Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve been to me. Have a blessed day, my champion mommy.”
Matli Mohapeloa began his career in 2005, landing a lead role in the international series Cuppen.
Some of his notable television roles include, Fistos in the miniseries When We Were Black (SABC1, 2006) and Moss Cele in the Mzansi Magic soap opera Zabalaza.
