South Africa recorded 6 762 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, 12 January.
This brings the total of active cases to 138 326 after 43 494 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate is now at 15.5% with new deaths at 181.
Recorded active cases in Gauteng are 13 432.
KwaZulu Natal leads with the number of active cases in the country, followed by the Western Cape and then Gauteng.
The Western Cape recorded the most new cases in the last 24 hours with a total of 1 910.
This is followed by Gauteng with 1 454 new cases and KwaZulu Natal with 1 219.
The number of hospitalisations for the past 24 hours is 316.
