Acclaimed South African DJ and producer, Collen “Chymamusique” Mmotla, has been moved out of the intensive care unit after being seriously injured in a car crash that killed five other people.
The accident, which occurred on 30 August on the N1 near the Ysterberg mountain outside Polokwane, claimed the lives of fellow DJ Caven “Poizen” Motswadira and four other passengers. Chymamusique has been hospitalised since the incident.
A statement shared on the artist’s social media pages on Monday provided an update on his condition, confirming he is now out of the ICU.
“As of now, four successful operations, one outstanding. Still hospitalised until further notice. Thank you for your prayers and support during the toughest times,” the post read.
It also included the hashtags #RIPCaven and #RipFamilyOf4.

The news has brought relief to his fans and the wider music community, who have been sending messages of support since the tragic event. While his recovery continues, the music world mourns the loss of those who died in the collision.
