Over the past few days, South Africa has seen acts of public violence of a kind rarely seen in the history of its democracy.
Although the president has put measures in place to try and stop the acts of violence, some people believe more needs to be done.
Boity Thulo is one celebrity who believes government is not doing enough to show it cares for the people.
In a Tweet posted on Thursday, the singer wrote that: “The government does not give AF about it’s people.”

The multi-award-winning singer adds: “it’s horrifying and downright depressing! Everything we are witnessing has been a long time coming!”
The rapper says she wishes she knew how to help.
“I just wish I knew the right thing to say and how to help. Everything we are witnessing makes one feel almost debilitated,” Boity wrote on Twitter.

On Monday, musician Khaya Mthethwa also asked President Cyril Ramaphosa to do more.
He said the president needs to visit people on the ground.

To date, at least 72 people have been killed in riots across Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Police have also arrested over 1,000 people.
