ANC workers are breathing a sigh of relief after the party started paying outstanding salaries.
Staff members were reportedly paid on Tuesday.
According to the party’s spokesperson, Pule Mabe, their salaries for October and November have now been paid. The ANC is expected to pay December salaries by the end of today.
The Sunday Times revealed last week that the party needed to raise R200-million in order to pay its staff and outstanding debts.
According to the publication, employees were only paid their August and September salaries in early December.
The ANC has gone as far as asking its members to help raise funds for the party.
The ANC reportedly has a more than R12-million salary bill.

Protest action
The ANC has been struggling to pay its staff since May.
Its treasurer-general Paul Mashatile joined scores of employees at a picket outside of the party’s head office, Luthuli House, in November.
ANC Women’s League president, Bathabile Dlamini, and several other senior leaders also participated in the protest.
Staff threatened to down tools if they were not paid.
Despite not receiving their salaries, many still worked during the local government elections.
It’s unclear if the ANC has managed to pay its R200-million debt. Mabe says they are hopeful the salary issue will be dealt with soon.
