Relebogile Mabotja says pumping breast milk for her baby has sometimes been “painful”. The media personality opened up about her breastfeeding experience in an eye-opening post on Instagram.
Relebogile says she missed out on her baby’s first meal because of a difficult delivery.
“Our feeds were disrupted while he was in NICU so I became besties with the pump early on. I am so blessed that I was in a position to rent the big strong one after the ones bought and received were not able to protect my supply and cater to baby,” she wrote.
The ‘Zone 14’ star says when she is working on set she pumps her breastmilk. But she sometimes doesn’t get as much milk as she would like.
“It has been beyond hard and sometimes painful making sure baby gets as much of my milk as possible with long days on set. And I’ve wept on this watching the few drops add up to less than a feed meaning we have to top up with formula but I am still determined to push on with the help of my trusted friend.”

Relebogile says there have been some unexpected moments in her motherhood journey, but she has also learned along the way.
“This is the part of this journey I didn’t ever see prior and have been experiencing. I am still figuring a lot out, like how to cut my bras so I can use them instead of buying for a hands-free experience And how to do breast care and massage engorged breasts while pumping… I’m getting there. The journey continues.”
Nothing went according to plan
Relebogile also opened up about her difficult birth experience in May. She said nothing went according to plan during the delivery.
“So much went wrong in the build-up. It was an emergency we didn’t anticipate. We could have lost you again. Yet the moment was perfect. And I was ready. More importantly, so were you! The day you were born is the day I as your mother was born, and I will never be the same again.”
