The recent tightening of lockdown restrictions saw a change in curfew time which impacts those travelling on late flights.
In short, President Cyril Ramaphosa said curfew starts at 10pm and ends at 4pm so what does that mean for travellers?
Flight Centre Travel Group Middle East and Africa MD, Andrew Stark, said travellers will need to carry a valid boarding pass or a copy of their flight ticket.
“Travellers will still be able to board their flights and complete the last leg of their journey after they have landed.
“The government gazette stipulates that although the new curfew is from 10pm to 4am, people who arrive on a flight and are travelling to or from an airport, will be allowed to do so during the restricted hours. They will however need to carry a valid boarding pass or a copy of their flight ticket,” he said.

Stark said they do not want travellers to have any uncertainty or confusion around their travels.
“We would like to reassure them that they will still be able to travel home or to their destination after landing, even when they land after curfew,” Stark said.
He added that customers are encouraged to contact their respective leisure or corporate travel manager 24/7 with any queries or concerns regarding their travel plans or alternatively visit our websites for more traveller information.
A travel expert has advised those travelling to ensure that they take all necessary steps to ensure their safety and avoid travelling to hot spot areas – if possible.
Travellers are urged to make sure they book hotels or B&Bs away from crowds and rather opt for self-catering venues or boutique hotels. They are also urged to ensure they wear a mask and sanitise their hands often.
Travellers should also ensure that venues they booked comply with COVID safety guidelines.
