Petrolheads who have followed the Fast & Furious franchise that spans 20 years with 10 movies to date will be happy to know that F9: The Fast Saga is expected to break box-office records internationally.
Despite critics tanking the latest instalment in the franchise for bordering on utter absurdity.
The film is pitted to be the first blockbuster to open in US and Canadian cinemas since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020 and has been delayed by a year to allow fans the opportunity to watch it on the big screen.
However, critics are calling F9: The Fast Saga ‘sheer nitro-injected insanity’ as the movie is said to contain a scene that breaks atmospheric highs.
Without giving too much away the Fast & Furious films are known for big stunts with fast cars but the scene with Roman and Tej in a rocket-fueled Pontiac Fiero has critics shaking their heads.
“As if always searching for another gear of outrageousness, the franchise has hunted new, implausible roads for gravity-defying mayhem and unexplainable traction. Cars here, cars there. Cars everywhere.”- JAKE COYLE AP Film Writer
“Having conquered land, sea, and air, there was only one place left to take the Fast & Furious franchise: Outer space. But they wouldn’t, right? That would be a step too far. Welcome to “F9: The Fast Saga,” a film that has moved the franchise past its self-parody phase into an uncharted cinematic experience that pushes so far past the line of incredulity that their really isn’t any point in trying to take any aspect of the film seriously.”- RYAN PAINTER, KUTV
Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Toretto has always talked about the films being a testament to family and the franchise does have a market of loyal followers.
Will this be the final instalment? Maybe not if Vin Diesel’s hint that fans should never say never.
