Chelsea dashed Manchester City’s hope of a double trophy haul this season and went on to be crowned UEFA Champions League(UCL) winners on Saturday night.
A 42nd-minute goal by Kai Havertz sealed the deal for Chelsea, with an impressive performance by N’golo Kanté.
While City dominated with possession and pass accuracy, Chelsea had more attempts at goal and two shots on target, compared to City’s only shot at goal.
City who are the current English Premier League title holders after winning the league were hoping this would be the year they finally win a UCL.
However, Chelsea was the more deserving team and was on top form, giving them their second UCL title under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
City manager Pep Guardiola’s Champions League drought continues to plague him since leaving Barcelona.
The all English final was a nailbiting display from these two formidable clubs and Chelsea have once again taken their place as a top-tier English club.
Securing a Top 4 finish in the EPL this season means they have a chance to defend their UCL title next season.
