Unisex public bathrooms are slowly becoming the norm around the world, but one person who is against the idea is actress Zenande Mfenyana.
‘The Queen’ star took to Twitter to share her thoughts on men and women sharing public bathrooms.
“What do you think of public unisex loo’s? Yay or nay? For me, it’s a nay, I can’t reconcile in my mind bumping into guys in the loo,” she tweeted.
The actress shared one of her bad experiences with gender-neutral bathrooms.
“The guy who went in before me peed all over the seat. I turned back so quickly.”

But some say they have no problem sharing a toilet with the opposite sex, comparing it to families using the same bathroom at home.
“How do you handle it at home when you have visitors, or you have female and male toilets at home?”
I said “public” tho 😏 my family are not strangers

Bonginkosi Madikizela’s call for unisex toilets
Former DA leader in the Western Cape, Bonginkosi Madikizela, made headlines in January 2020 when he proposed that Cape Town International Airport introduce unisex bathrooms.
“I find it backwards, discriminating and stereotyping that just because you are a male, you must be searched by a male. If you are a female, you must searched by a female at the airport, what about members of LGBTQI+? I’m gonna challenge this. We must also do away with male and female toilets, we must have unisex toilets,’ he wrote on Facebook.
One Facebook user insisted it was a bad idea “in a country full of sex offenders, predators and pedophiles”.
But Bonginkosi replied that “they are less likely to do it in unisex toilets. They thrive in areas of exclusivity’.
