- Mpumalanga police are offering a R100 000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of Phumlani Ezekiel Matsane.
- Matsane is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of two men at a tavern in Marite on 15 May 2023.
- Police have warned the public not to approach him as he is considered armed and very dangerous.
Mpumalanga police are offering a R100 000 reward to any individual who can assist law enforcement with information that can lead to the arrest of Calcutta’s most wanted murderer.
The suspect, Phumlani Ezekiel Matsane, is reportedly involved in a 2023 case where two people were fatally shot in the Calcutta Policing Precinct.
“The two males were shot and killed at a tavern in Marite, on 15 May 2023. At this stage Police cannot rule out the possibility of his involvement in other similar cases which are under investigation,” said police spokesperson in the province, Mavela Masondo.
Mavela has appealed to anyone with information regarding Matsane’s whereabouts to contact the following police officers:
- Detective Lieutenant Colonel Madala Ndashe on 076 244 8577 or
- Lieutenant Colonel Freddy Magagula on 082 780 6815.
The public is advised not to attempt to apprehend the suspect because he is considered armed and very dangerous.
“The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise, has reassured the public that Police are working hard to deal with crime in the area under Calcutta Policing Precinct, including areas like Mkhuhlu where several murder incidents were recently reported,” added Mavela.
