- Beneficiaries with grants under review will be paid on Friday, 7 August, one day after the standard cycle.
- Completing the review process within August is compulsory to avoid grant suspension or cancellation.
- Recipients must present original identity and financial documents, either in-person, via a proxy, or through digital channels.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that social grant recipients whose payments are currently under review will receive their August funds on Friday, 7 August one day after the standard three-day payment window concludes.
The agency advised recipients whose grants are not paid during the initial three day schedule not to panic or rush to local branches, as their funds will process on the fourth day.
The official August payment schedule is:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 4 August
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 5 August
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 6 August
- Grants under review: Friday, 7 August
“Beneficiaries selected for review are notified by SMS, making it essential for grant recipients to keep their personal information up to date,” SASSA stated in a press release, reminding clients that notifications rely entirely on database records.
Although under-review grants will be disbursed on 7 August, recipients must still complete the review procedure during the month.
Under the Social Assistance Act, failing to respond to a review request can lead to immediate grant suspension or lapsing. Regular reviews are legally mandated to prevent fraud, ensure compliance, and maintain database accuracy.
To complete a review, beneficiaries must provide original documents and certified copies where required including a valid South African ID, proof of residence, marital status documentation, and three months of bank statements.
Additional records, such as birth certificates or school attendance letters, may be necessary depending on the grant type.
For those unable to visit a branch due to illness, an authorised representative may act on their behalf. SASSA also encourages clients to utilise its online services to avoid queues, noting that free Wi-Fi and staff assistance are available at agency offices.
