- King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has officially paid lobola for Princess Sihle Mdluli, offering 70 cattle during negotiations at the Mawewe royal house in Mpumalanga, paving the way for their customary marriage.
- Princess Sihle Mdluli, from the Mdluli royal family, has been publicly linked to the king since early 2025 and will become his fourth wife.
- The lobola ceremony comes weeks after King Misuzulu apologised following the circulation of a leaked video in which he allegedly insulted his third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini on Saturday, 18 July, officially paid lobola for his royal fiancée, Princess Sihle Mdluli, at the Mawewe royal house in Mgobodzi village, Nkomazi, Mpumalanga.
IOL reports that the AmaZulu king was accompanied by a delegation including newly appointed Zulu Traditional Prime Minister Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza, his spokesperson Prince Mpiyakhe Buthelezi, and regiments (amabutho).
The delegation is reported to have concluded the lobola negotiations with 70 cattle, paving the way for their customary marriage.
Mdluli will then become King Misuzulu’s fourth wife, alongside Queen Ntokozo Mayisela, second wife Queen Nozizwe Mulela, and Queen Nomzamo Myeni.

Who is Princess Sihle Mdluli?
Princess Sihle Mdluli hails from the Mdluli royal family in Mpumalanga. Known as MaWewe, her mother is Inkosi Khulile Mkhwatshwa of the Mawewe Traditional Council.
Reports of Mdluli’s relationship with King Misuzulu first emerged in February 2025 when the king’s traditional prime minister at the time, Prince Gumbela Zulu, confirmed her presence at the final ritual of the Umkhosi Wokweshwama ceremony in Emashobeni.
Zulu confirmed that Mdluli had been introduced to the Zulu royal family and had already moved into one of the king’s palaces.
In July 2025, Mdluli officially accompanied Misuzulu on a diplomatic visit to the United Kingdom.
Moving forward from recent controversy
This comes after a recent leaked video allegedly showed King Misuzulu intoxicated and insulting Queen Nomzamo Myeni, his third wife. The video was widely shared on social media.
King Misuzulu has since apologised for the incident and expressed his regret.
