- TV personality Jub Jub is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court following allegations that he threatened an e-hailing driver and discharged a firearm in his direction.
- Meanwhile, alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi will return to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court to launch a fresh bail application after his initial bid was denied.
- Mogotsi’s legal team is expected to present new evidence regarding his residential address in an effort to overturn the court’s previous finding that he is a flight risk.
It is a busy court day in South Africa as two prominent figures return to court for developments in their respective cases.
TV star Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, is set to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court following an alleged incident involving an e-hailing driver.
According to police, the driver had dropped off a female passenger when Jub Jub allegedly accused him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.
Police allege that he then forced the driver into a vehicle, prevented him from leaving, and discharged a firearm in the driver’s direction.
Maarohanye’s lawyers subsequently brought an urgent application before the Gauteng High Court, arguing that there had been delays in bringing him before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court following his arrest.
The High Court granted the application and ordered his release on R5 000 bail pending further investigations.
He has been charged with pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe it is a firearm.
Police say they searched his residence and seized a pellet gun.
Meanwhile, alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is expected back in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 June 2026, where he will launch a fresh bid for bail.
His initial application was denied over conflicting residential addresses and the strength of the State’s case against him.
Mogotsi faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, perjury, and defeating the ends of justice.
The charges relate to allegations that he staged his own assassination attempt in Vosloorus last year.
Today, his defence team will present new facts aimed at clarifying his residential address, which was the primary reason his initial bail application was denied.
Mogotsi was initially denied bail after Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi ruled that he posed a flight risk.
The court found that Mogotsi had provided three different, unverified residential addresses during his initial bail application.
The court will now have to determine whether the new information is sufficient to justify his release on bail pending trial.
