South African musician JR has been hard at work behind the scenes producing what is regarded as a major first for the African continent, which will offer a new way for independent artists to get their music heard by millions of people across the globe.
He recently took to Instagram to share news of FYVE (5) the app he’s soon to launch, which is Africa’s first music distribution app. Through the app artists can release their own music, on their own terms, whenever they want to.
The FYVE App, allows music makers and creators to upload their music from their smart phones without having to submit any paperwork and music through web based aggregator or label services.

What makes the FYVE App different?
Though there are many apps that provide music to the growing streaming services market, there’s no mobile distribution app that solely services the African Market.
Though the introduction of the FYVE App, there is a hope that they will be able to reduce the digital gap between creatives and technology and make distributing music as natural as making it.
