Two top-performing schools in Gauteng will be closed until Monday, after reporting an outbreak of COVID-19.
The Gauteng Education Department and Department of Health are now actively conducting routine tracing and tracking to determine how many other schools are affected besides the two.
St. John’s College confirmed at least six learners and two teachers had tested positive, with Krugersdorp High reporting 11 positive cases.
It’s reported that more than 34 others have had contact with those who are COVID-19 positive and they will be quarantined.
Other schools in Gauteng are considering shutting down their extra-curricular programmes, in an effort to curb contact and re-emphasize social distancing protocols.
