- Seven suspects were arrested in Klerksdorp for allegedly planning an ATM bombing.
- Police recovered firearms and explosives before the crime was carried out.
- The suspects will appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on multiple charges.
Seven people have been arrested for allegedly planning to bomb an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Klerksdorp, North West.
The group, aged between 30 and 58, was arrested by members of the Special Task Force (STF) and the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS) on Tuesday morning, 03 March 2026.
Hawks spokesperson, Katlego Mogale, says the arrests follow information received by the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section about a planned ATM bombing in Klerksdorp.
“The members acted swiftly and arrested the suspects before committing the crime.
One rifle, one pistol and explosives were recovered. The suspects will be charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, conspiracy to commit crime, and possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle,” said Mogale.
They are expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
