Two women were found brutally murdered inside a locked house in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
The gruesome discovery was made after neighbours raised concerns about a strong foul smell and an unusual number of flies coming from the house.
Police were called to the scene, where Mbombela Disaster Management assisted in forcing entry after it was confirmed that the house was locked with no signs of a break-in.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Jabu Ndubane, the house appeared to have been ransacked.
Inside, officers discovered the decomposing bodies of two women, both found partially naked.
“One of the victims was identified by family members as Ms Eunice Mahlodi (64), whose body was found half naked. The second victim was identified as Ms Eugenia Dineo Masuku (20). Masuku’s body was found half-naked in her bedroom, with both hands tied using electrical cables,” said Ndubane.
Police suspect that the 20-year-old may have been strangled, as a cable was also found around her neck.
Bloodstains were observed in the bedroom, and investigators believe that items, including cell phones, may have been stolen from the house.
Emergency medical personnel certified both women dead at the scene. Police confirmed that the bodies were already in the early stages of decomposition.
A case of double murder has been opened.
