On what would have been his 45th birthday, the late South African music icon Jabulani Tsambo, better known as HHP (Hip Hop Pantsula), was lovingly remembered by his widow, Lerato Sengadi.
Taking to social media, Sengadi shared a deeply moving tribute to the legendary rapper, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 38.
Sengadi’s message, filled with both grief and enduring affection, highlighted her ongoing commitment to honouring his legacy. She wrote,
“I’m still doing the best I can for you in your absence. It’s tough sometimes but God doesn’t play with His fave.”
“You are missed soooo much! Not just by me but your Fancestors too,” she shared, acknowledging the countless fans who continue to mourn him.
She expressed gratitude for the extensive musical catalogue he left behind, noting,
“THANK GOD you left us with so much timeless music… and more to amazing stuff to come.”
Concluding her message, Sengadi opted for a celebratory tone. “Today is NO TEARS, JUST CHEERS,” she declared, adding that she would be raising a glass in his honour, knowing he was “having a time” with his late mother. The post, which ended with the heartfelt “143” (I love you) and “Jabba Forever,” is a testament to the lasting impact of the multi-award-winning artist.
HHP’s death in October 2018 sent shockwaves through the nation. His legacy, however, continues to be celebrated, thanks to his pioneering contributions to Motswako music and his timeless body of work.
