Anonymous is feeling neglected in his marriage

A listener recently reached out to The Best T in the City to share his frustration about his wife spending most of her time at her sister’s house.
The couple has been married for a year, but according to him, his wife has not made time to bond at home, choosing instead to spend her afternoons with her sister who lives just a few blocks away.
Anonymous wants to know if there are any blind spots he might be overlooking.
“My wife and I have been married for a year, and throughout this year, l’ve been struggling with the same issue. Almost every day after work, she goes to her sister’s place (just 10 minutes away) and only comes home after 18:00, often bringing food from her sister.
“I’ve told her that I would prefer she cook sometimes, not necessarily every day, and that it would mean a lot to me to come home to her waiting for me. She always promises to do better, but we end up back at the same place.
“I even spoke to her mother, who also spoke to her and called out her sister (who is older and has been married longer), but still nothing has changed. Last month, I stopped eating the food she brings from her sister’s place, hoping that would send a message, but she doesn’t seem moved.
“I’ve tried to keep this between us because I wanted to resolve it as a couple and also protect her, but now I feel like I might need to involve my aunts to speak to her. Would that be wrong of me? Or is this just one of the challenges of the first year of marriage?
“I understand she has always been very close to her sister, even before marriage, but I never thought I’d find myself fighting this kind of battle. What could be my blind spot here?”
