- A 32-year-old Eldorado Park man now faces charges of murder, rape, child abuse, and assault in connection with the death of his four-year-old daughter.
- The child’s mother has also been charged with defeating the ends of justice.
- Both will return to the Protea Magistrates Court on 18 August 2025 for their bail application.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has added a rape charge to the case of a 32-year-old Eldorado Park man accused of abusing his four-year-old biological daughter.
He now faces charges of murder, rape, child abuse, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The accused made a brief appearance at the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He was arrested last Friday after community members reported the alleged abuse.
During his arrest, his daughter was found injured and bleeding. She was taken to the hospital but later died from her injuries.
Community members gathered outside the Protea Court in solidarity with the deceased child.

NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that the child’s mother also appeared in court separately on a charge of defeating the ends of justice.
The case has been postponed to Monday, 18 August 2025, for the pair’s bail application.
