Actress and author Ayanda Borotho has openly shared the challenging yet ultimately redemptive experience of her unexpected pregnancy at the age of 21, offering a powerful message of hope and resilience.
In a candid social media post, Borotho revealed how she navigated the societal stigma and personal struggles often associated with young motherhood, ultimately finding strength and purpose through her faith.
For Borotho, this fear became a reality as she faced ostracisation and judgment.
“Pregnant at 21, I was ostracised, shamed, written off. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t expect applause,” Borotho wrote.
She emphasised that despite the adversity, she found solace and a fresh start through her belief in God.
“God met me at my end. And said ‘here…start again. This child, will push you towards your light.'”
Borotho credits her faith for transforming what seemed like setbacks into triumphs.
She shared how God not only remembered her in her darkest hour but also bestowed upon her gifts that serve as daily reminders of divine intervention.
“Sebefungile, that some of us will never rise again, and You not only remembered us but gave us gifts that will be a daily reminder that it was YOU, who dug us out of the graves that they committed us to,” she stated.
“We are here, standing. We are here walking with the gifts they thought would curse us.”
Borotho also shared a picture of her daughter Ayaphiwa and wrote, “God gave her to me to lead me to RE-ALIGN myself strength because the comeback was no longer just for me, but for her and others.”
