Chris Brown has reportedly settled the civil lawsuit filed against him by Abe Diaw, who accused the singer of striking him with a bottle of alcohol in a London nightclub in 2023.
Diaw has moved to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice, indicating that a settlement has been reached and the case cannot be refiled.
Neither Brown nor Diaw has publicly commented on the settlement.
Despite the civil resolution, the R&B star still faces serious criminal charges related to the same incident.
Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, in May and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. Prosecutors have described the situation as “extremely serious,” with CCTV footage of the alleged assault now in their possession.
Initial reports indicated Brown was denied bail and remanded in custody until 13 June, just days before his “Breezy Bowl” tour was set to kick off in Manchester.
However, a judge later reversed the decision, releasing Brown on bail reportedly totaling nearly $7 million (roughly R120 million)
Diaw had also alleged that Brown “ruthlessly” stomped on his head, knocking him unconscious, and subsequently spread “false rumors” about him.
Brown’s criminal case is ongoing.
