Drive 959’s Skhumba recently shared with the team that he and his family watched Straw, a new film by Tyler Perry featuring Taraji P. Henson and it left some family members in tears.
Straw tells the story of a single mother who navigates a series of unfortunate events, eventually finding herself entangled in a situation she never anticipated.
As suspicion falls on her, she is forced to fight for her truth in a world that seems cold and indifferent.
The emotional film prompted Skhumba to reflect on other movies that have brought him to tears over the years. He revealed that Man of Honour starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Cookie, and Titanic all struck a chord.
“Seeing Jack drown brought me to tears,” he said, referencing the heartbreaking climax of Titanic.
Kgomotso Meso also watched Straw recently and admitted it made her cry. She went on to recommend Scratch, calling it a deeply moving love story.
“It made me cry. It’s a love story that doesn’t see a happy ending,” she shared.
Skhumba then suggested that Kgomotso check out Breaking on Netflix, another emotional must-watch. The Drive 959 team invited listeners to share the films that have made them cry.
