Sizwe Dhlomo recently challenged his team, Sol Phenduka, Mpho Maboi, and Mfundo Mabalane to rate their level of comprehension.
Mpho Maboi rated herself a seven, explaining how her approach to communication has evolved over the years.
“As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learnt to listen more and talk less. I used to be the kind of person who listened just to respond, not necessarily to understand,” she shared.
Sol Phenduka admitted that his comprehension is sometimes affected by overthinking.
“I get too obsessed with the words, and that can be distracting from the conversation happening in the moment,” he said.
Sizwe agreed, adding humorously, “Even when he talks, Sol goes on forever.”
Mfundo Mabalane revealed that she relates to Sol, particularly when reading books.
“It almost takes me a bit longer to read a book because I’ll need to re-read a specific excerpt again. I’ve got notes even on my phone. Every single book I’ve ever read has notes — even written inside the book,” she said.
Mfundo went on to rate Sizwe’s comprehension level at a 10.
“This is my first time working with you, and I was like, ‘Sizwe is quite sharp,’ because at the heart of it is the ability to move from one subject to the next,” she said.
“You can talk politics, then shift to business, and then onto gadgets. You’re well-read across the board.”
To round off the discussion, Dhlomo challenged his team to interpret their understanding of a stanza from 50 Cent’s Many Men.
