Today marks a big milestone for South African actress Xolile Tshabalala as she celebrates her 48th birthday.
Taking to Instagram, the star shared a message of gratitude, reflecting on the love and support she has received from her family throughout her life.
“48 years today. God has been good to me,” she began.
Tshabalala paid tribute to her roots, honouring the Tshabalala, Ncongwane, and Ncamane families for lifting her higher with their love and encouragement.
The celebrated actress, known for her role as Julia Motene on Generations, opened up about the deep connection within her family.
She credited her parents for their sacrifices and guidance, especially during challenging times after her father left.
“In my grandfather’s house and my great-grandmother’s house there is no such thing as an only child,” she recalled warmly, painting a picture of a childhood surrounded by protective and loving cousins and siblings.
She shared touching stories, such as her sister Nhlanhla buying her first black baby doll, and Khani bravely standing up for her at school.
Tshabalala also remembered her late sister, sisThoko, who affectionately called her “the family light and peace giver,” and spoke fondly of her mischievous childhood, where her charm often softened the hearts of elders.
“My family was the first stage I ever got my standing ovation,” she said, emphasising how their love and acceptance shaped her into the woman she is today.
In a sentiment, Xolile expressed her pride in her heritage: “Like my afro, I rise. Proudly self, proudly African — that is all I can be.”
