The South African Deaf Sports Federation is seeking financial assistance with sending 30 hearing impaired athletes to represent the country at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The Federation says it lacks the funding to give all qualifying athletes the opportunity to take part in the event and needs at least R5 million to cover all costs for the games.
According to reports, the Deaflympics summer games are set to take place between 15 and 26 November 2025.
Meanwhile, the Federation told Kaya News that South Africa has been part of the games since the early 90s.
