His supporters have hailed him as a champion for their cause, while critics have slammed him as a privileged, treasonous racist spreading misinformation. But who’s right?
On Siz The World this morning, the team delved into Roets’ bold claims, sparking a debate on whether South Africa needs better PR to improve its global image or an honest, open discussion about the real challenges facing the country.
“There were some better and worse people in the leadership. What is the most important component here that is well documented – it is not a secret but a lot of people don’t seem to want to know recognise and is that there is a strong alliance between the ANC and the South African communist party.
“To the extent in which they were supported. Not just by the Soviet Union, but also by the Vietnamese. The ANC saw themselves as the South African frontier of promoting a socialist or a communist revolution,” alleged Roets in part.
