R100 million offered by the Human Settlements Ministry
KwaZulu-Natal has been given R100 million by the Human Settlements Ministry to help manage the consequences of the floods.
Minister of human settlements, Thembi Simelane, is visiting the province affected by flooding for two days.
Simelane’s visit will end on the South Coast after beginning in the eThekwini Metro Municipality on Tuesday.
“We must thank the minister. She’s just hit the ground running. She’s already allocated R100 million for the province of KwaZulu-Natal because we are spending more in terms of expenditure pattern. They are still going to add more but it’s a reality [that] it’s not going to be adequate,” said KwaZulu-Natal Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma.
