Dricus du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland for the second in 13 months at UFC 312, keeping the middleweight belt he took from his opponent during their previous encounter.
After a contentious decision against the American in January 2024, du Plessis regained the title from Strickland after the pair fought to the end on Saturday, 8 February. But this time, the winner could not be disputed.
Du Plessis, who is the first South African fighter to wear the UFC gold, defeated Strickland with scorecards of 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46, reportedly fracturing his opponent’s nose in the process.
