Controversial social media blogger, Musa Khawula, abandoned his bail application at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
This comes after the 33-year-old blogger was advised that a bail application might be futile due to the fact that he is also facing criminal charges in another court.
Kaya News reports that Khawula is due to appear in the Fochville Magistrates Court next week on charges of attempted murder relating to an alleged hit and run incident in the Free State in 2022.
He currently stands accused of crimen injuria and contravening the Cyber Crimes Act for posting defamatory comments online about businessman Ze Nxumalo and his wife Dr Tamaryn Green in October last year.
A second count of Contravention of the Cyber Crimes Act has been added to the charge sheet in relation to defamatory statements he made about a politician.
The matter has been postponed to Tuesday, 18 February for further investigations.
In July 2024, Khawula was arrested and served a 90-day sentence for a defamation case brought against him by the wife of ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula (Nozuko Mbalula) and her business partner.
The gossip blogger is also facing murder charges after he allegedly fatally stabbed a Wandile Khambule in 2022.
