Grammy Award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco will become the first rapper to have a professorship at Johns Hopkins University.
The Chicago rapper has revealed that he will serve as a visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute.
Lupe will teach a rap course as part of the acclaimed university’s new four-year hip hop program which will begin at the Peabody Conservatory in 2025.

The @peabodyinstitute is one of the oldest music conservatories in America. World renowned for its rigorous training and for producing some of the world’s greatest musicians, and I’m honored to contribute to this legacy doing what I love most, Rap. I’ll continue my teaching at @mit and pursuing my fellowship at @yale while advancing Rap studies and practice into the upper echelons of higher education at large.

Lupe Fiasco’s accolades include a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for ‘Daydreamin’ (featuring Jill Scott) in 2008.
He has also been nominated for 11 other Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album for ‘Food & Liquor’ and ‘The Cool’.
In addition, he has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards and one MOBO Award.
