Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, is celebrating another year around the sun as she turns 24 years old today.
Chidimma experienced triumph and resilience in 2024 after she recieved backlash and withdrew from Miss South Africa. She then switched gears and represented Taraba State in Miss Universe Nigeria, eventually earning the title.
This success drove her to the global stage at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico City where she reached an incredible feat and finished as first runner-up.
In 2024 Chidimma was also a Miss South Africa pageant finalist, and attracted attention and criticism over her Nigerian roots. This dispute triggered a discussion on xenophobia and national identity in South Africa.
Her path eventually acted as an inspiration, demonstrating how setbacks may be turned into opportunities for success.
