A group of fifteen SAPS officers has been sent to Paris, France, for the Olympic games.
The squad, which consists of eight men and seven women, is in charge of handling a variety of tasks like crowd control, maintaining public safety, and assisting police stations and cell phone reception areas. They all have at least ten years of experience working in a public-order police capacity.
The Olympics will open in Paris on the night of Friday, July 26, and continue through Sunday, Aug. 11
The police officers arrived in Paris on Thursday morning.

According to the SAPS, the 15 police officers will be assisting with crowd management control capabilities following a request from the French Government for members from various security officers including SAPS to provide support to its Interior Security in their mission to ensure a safe and secure event.
