Rachel Kolisi, the wife of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, recently decided to take a three-week break from social media. Although the break wasn’t planned, she used the time to reflect and pray.
“Feels kind of awkward doing a posts again actually,” she captioned her recent post.
Rachel revealed that she has some amazing things coming up that she’s excited to share with the public.
Additionally, she encouraged her followers to take breaks from social media.
“But mostly here to encourage you. If you haven’t taken a break from SM lately – I HIGHLY recommend it. The chaos around us will continue, peace has almost become a privilege, prioritise it.”
A research study in 2022 asked 154 participants (average age of 29.6 years) to either stop using social media for one week or continue using it as usual. The participants who took a break from social media experienced significantly reduced anxiety and depression, along with greater well-being.
Among a group of students at university, a research study of 555 participants showed that a one-week break from social media meaningfully decreased stress levels.
