Apple and OpenAI have teamed to provide ChatGPT for iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
During the opening keynote of Apple’s annual WWDC event on Monday morning, the tech giant announced that iOS 18, which is scheduled to release later this year, will bring features from ChatGPT, a popular app developed by OpenAI, to the iPhone, iPadOS, and MacOS.
According to Apple, the so-called “generative AI” is capable of producing various types of texts, movies, and images in response to spoken or written commands.
This action is another step Apple is taking to close the gap in the AI race. Hundreds of millions of users have flocked to new technologies developed by OpenAI and others over the last two years.
Before sending any papers, images, or inquiries to ChatGPT, Apple users are prompted, and Siri then provides a direct response.
“We’re excited to partner with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their users in a new way. Apple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone. Together with Apple, we’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer.”
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI
