Police Minister Bheki Cele and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor are amongst the list of African National Congress (ANC) members who didn’t make the Parliament cut.
Both Cele and Pandor will not be returning to Parliament after the ANC lost 70 seats in the National Assembly, resulting in the ANC going into coalition talks with one or more political parties in order to form a coalition government to rule the country.
Thandi Modise, Thulas Nxesi and Zizi Kodwa will also not return to their ANC ranks.
Kodwa, who is facing corruption charges in a R1.7 million bribery scandal resigned from his position as Sport, Arts and Culture Minister on Wednesday, 05 June.
Despite maintaining his innocence, Kodwa also stepped aside from his roles as member of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ANC with immediate effect.
This after Kodwa was formally charged and made his first appearance in court.
Kodwa allegedly accepted R1.7 million in bribes from former EOH boss Jehan Mackay.
Mckay reportedly made cash payments to Kodwa to the amount of around R1.7 million between February 2014 and April 2015.
Kodwa is said to have benefitted from the illicit transactions which allegedly funded his luxury accommodation, loans and other gratuities.
The full list of the names of Members of the National Assembly and Provincial Legislatures will be handed over to the Chief Justice Raymond Zondo on Thursday, 06 June.
