Sibusiso Zitha, the man accused of murdering his girlfriend, celebrity chef Thembekile Letlape, better known as the “Pastry Princess” says it was a mistake.
In a video that has been circulating on social media since his arrest, Zitha seemingly confesses to killing his girlfriend whose lifeless body was found in his Fourways home.
Walking into what appears to be a police station in chains, Zitha is filmed while a man questions him and he responds saying “it was a mistake, and that’s why I’m confessing. I’m eternally regretful and that’s why I’m confessing because I can’t take it back.”
A motive for the senseless murder of the talented celebrity chef is unknown, but Zitha made his first appearance at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 03 June after reportedly spending days on the run.
The 40-year old eventually handed himself over to police in Etwatwa, a township in Benoni, on Saturday, 01 June.
Thembekile’s father, Dr Kgosi Letlape found her lifeless body on Thursday, 30 May.
Dr Letlape, the former South African Medical Association Chairperson went to check on his daughter after she had sent her mother a distressing text message.
A memorial service for Thembekile was held on Wednesday, 05 June.
