Congratulations to Smoke & Mirrors actress Amina Jack who recently announced that she had graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Kwazulu-Natal (UKZN).
Amina is a first-generation graduate in her family, which is a huge accomplishment.
“Thank you Jesus,” she expressed. We did it! First generation graduate ekhaya. I’m still in awe of God’s goodness, and faithfulness.”
Reflecting on her journey to graduation, Amina shared that she had dropped out during the second semester in 2021 and never thought she would make it to this point. She thanked God and her psychologist for saving her life and helping her through tough times.
“God? I’m forever grateful to you! A special thank you to my psychologist- she saved my life.
“Iba nenkani ngamaphupho akho. Keep working hard to reach your dreams. Keep showing up. Allow God to do what He does best. Akukho okungenzeki kuye, hlala entandweni yakhe.
“PERSEVERE! (That is the motto of my primary school) and we did just that. Qhubeka. Bekezela. Phikelela. Uzophumelela. I actually can’t believe I did it! Yes! It’s a big deal!”
Smoke & Mirrors is set in the landscape of a small mining town called Emnyameni. Here, we come to learn that the story lives up to its name-nothing and no one is truly as they seem. Introducing the character of Thandiswa, a hairdresser by day, an escort by night, and a girl on a mission to rid the town of “The Unholy Trinity”, the group of morally corrupt men who run Emnyameni.
