South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha shared what working with Bruce Willis on his final film was like.
No stranger to the big screen, Nomzamo who made her big international break in Eddie Murphy’s “Coming 2 America”, stars opposite legendary Hollywood actor Bruce Willis in Assassin.
Taking the lead role in the sci-fi thriller opposite Willis was huge, and the actress shared with Actors Spaces what that experience was like.
Nomzamo shared that the biggest lesson she takes from her role opposite the Die Hard star was humility.
“I enjoyed working with him so much.
He still has that amazing smirk, that Bruce Willis smirk. The biggest lesson I’ve learned from him is the beauty of humility. The fact that you can be the biggest star in the world but still greet everyone on set, taking a moment to make people feel seen.
It was beautiful to witness. It stuck with me that you lose nothing by being a global superstar but still have humility as your core.”
Nomzamo Mbatha as quoted from her interview on Actor Spaces
Assasin was released in March 2023, and is a thrilling sci-fi in which Nomzamo stars as Alexa.
The movie involves a private military operation that invents a futuristic microchip technology that enables the mind of an agent to inhabit the body of another person to carry out covert, deadly missions.
However, when an agent gets killed during a secret mission, his wife takes his place in an attempt to bring the man responsible to justice.
Nomzamo loved starring in the sci-fi thriller genre, and after her local roles in Isibaya and Shaka iLembe, this was a switch in momentum which was welcome by the SAFTA and Africa Movie Academy Award nominee.
The actress wanted to pursue the role of a complex character, and wanted to challenge herself in a different genre.
Assassin is now available to stream on Showmax.
