After tragedy struck on the weekend when 5-year old Ditebogo Jr Phalane was shot and killed during a hijacking, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) came forward to offer a R500 000 reward.
This led the discussion on Siz the World over whether the PA are better suited to solve the crime issue in the country because of their leaders’ history and proximity to high crime areas.
Both President of the PA, Gayton Mckenzie and Deputy President, Kenny Kunene are ex-convicts who are now involved in politics.
This isn’t the first case that Gayton Mckenzie has come on board to offer a reward, and the PA leader has been an instrumental part of the search and rescue efforts to find missing Joslin Smith from Saldanha Bay.
A few months into the search of Joslin, Mckenzie put forward a R1 million reward for her safe return.
Some discredited Mckenzie for interfering with the investigations in Joslin’s case, whilst supporters of the politician believed if it wasn’t for him there would have been no progress in the case.
Mckenzie interviewed Joslin’s mother, Kelly Smith a few days before she was arrested for allegedly trafficking her 6-year old daughter in order to settle her drug debt.
With crime so rife in the country, many feel that Gayton Mckenzie and Kenny Kunene are better suited to managing crime because of their criminal past.
